PDGFRB는 receptor tyrosine kinase로, atherogenesis 및 SIS oncogene에 의한 세포 변형에 관여합니다. 이 성장 인자는 간엽 기원의 세포에 대한 mitogen으로 작용합니다. 결합된 성장 인자에 따라 수용체는 homodimer 또는 heterodimer 형태로 존재할 수 있으며, alpha 및 beta polypeptide로 구성됩니다.
해당 유전자는 염색체 5번에 위치하며, GM-CSF 및 M-CSF receptor 유전자와 인접해 있습니다. PDGFRB (CD140b)와 ETV6 유전자의 전위는 호산구증을 동반한 만성 골수증식성 질환을 유발할 수 있습니다.
