Target Information
PDGFRB is a receptor tyrosine kinase implicated in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for cells of mesenchymal origin. The receptor’s ligand determines whether it forms a homodimer or heterodimer with PDGFRA. The PDGFRB gene, located on chromosome 5 near GM-CSF and M-CSF receptor genes, may be involved in 5-q syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 that fuses PDGFRB (CD140b) with the ETV6 leukemia gene can lead to chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
