Target Information
Nuclear factor of activated T-cells (NFAT) is a transcription factor required for T-cell expression of the interleukin-2 gene. NFAT binds to the antigen receptor response element 2 in the interleukin-2 gene enhancer. It also binds RNA and plays a key role in hepatitis B viral polymerase encapsidation and protein priming. NFAT forms a heterodimer of 45 kDa and 90 kDa proteins; the smaller is the product of this gene and enhances gene expression through strong interaction with the larger protein.
