The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen, and the purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).

Target Information

Human Rap1 is the first identified ortholog of yeast telomeric protein scRap1, sharing three conserved sequence motifs. HRap1 is located at telomeres and affects telomere length by being recruited by TRF2 rather than directly binding to telomeric DNA. The hRap1 cDNA encodes a 399 amino acid protein (~47 kDa). hRap1 does not interact with TRF1. TRF2, a ubiquitously expressed protein, contains a Myb-related DNA binding motif and binds duplex TTAGGG repeats at telomeres. TRF2 helps maintain telomere structure and prevents senescence in primary human cells. Inhibition of TRF2 has been shown to induce apoptosis in certain mammalian cell types.
