Target Information

The c-Myc protein is a 62 kDa transcription factor encoded by the c-Myc gene on human chromosome 8q24. It is commonly activated in various tumors and plays critical roles in cellular proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and cell cycle progression.
Phosphorylation at Thr58/Ser62 by kinases such as GSK3, CDK, ERK2, and JNK is associated with cell proliferation and cycle regulation.

c-Myc is essential for vasculogenesis and angiogenesis in tumor development. Deregulated expression of c-Myc can induce apoptosis and contribute to oncogenesis. Amplification of the c-Myc gene has been found in lung, breast, and colon carcinomas, while N-Myc amplification is common in neuroblastomas.
Translocation of the c-Myc locus to immunoglobulin loci (chromosomes 14, 2, or 22) is characteristic of Burkitt’s lymphoma and other B-cell proliferative disorders. Aberrant expression of c-Myc occurs across multiple tumor types, including colorectal, gastric, hepatic, ovarian, and hematopoietic neoplasms.
