Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is an apolipoprotein and a member of the lipocalin protein family. It is primarily associated with high-density lipoproteins (HDL), and to a lesser extent with low-density lipoproteins (LDL) and triglyceride-rich lipoproteins. The encoded protein is secreted through the plasma membrane but remains membrane-bound, playing a role in lipid transport. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified, with one fully characterized.
