G protein-coupled receptors (GPRs), also known as seven transmembrane receptors or 7TM receptors, constitute a large family of proteins involved in various stimulus-response pathways.
GPR41 (also known as FFAR3, Free Fatty Acid Receptor 3) is a 346-amino-acid multi-pass membrane protein belonging to the G protein-coupled receptor family.
It is highly expressed in adipose tissue and functions as a receptor for short-chain fatty acids, mediating intracellular calcium elevation and inhibition of adenylyl cyclase.
