Target Information
TCF7L2 (also known as TCF4) is a high mobility group (HMG) box-containing transcription factor involved in the Wnt signaling pathway. It regulates pro-glucagon gene expression, influencing glucose homeostasis and GLP-1 production. Genetic variants of TCF7L2 are associated with type 2 diabetes and play roles in beta-cell survival and function. Differential expression of TCF7L2 isoforms has been observed in cancer progression, and gene targeting studies indicate its necessity for maintaining crypt stem cells in the small intestine.
