HD-PTP plays a role in sorting endocytic ubiquitinated cargos into multivesicular bodies (MVBs) via interaction with the ESCRT-I complex and possibly other ESCRT complexes.
It may act as a negative regulator of Ras-mediated mitogenic activity and plays a role in ciliogenesis.
