Target Information
ERK1 and ERK2 are widely expressed kinases involved in the regulation of meiosis, mitosis, and postmitotic functions in differentiated cells. They are activated by various stimuli such as growth factors, cytokines, viral infections, and GPCR ligands. Upon activation through the Ras-Raf-MEK-ERK signaling cascade, ERKs phosphorylate cytoplasmic targets or translocate to the nucleus to activate transcription factors including c-Fos and Elk-1.
