Product Specific Information
A 1:1,000 dilution of MA5-45901 was sufficient for detection of Metallothionein in 1 µg of purified Pseudomonas aeruginosa Metallothionein (PmtA)-GST tagged protein by ECL immunoblot analysis using goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody. Detects a 36 kDa band corresponding to Pseudomonas aeruginosa Metallothionein.
Target Information
Metallothioneins (MTs) are a family of low molecular weight, heavy metal-binding proteins characterized by a high cysteine content and lack of aromatic amino acids. MTs bind 7 to 12 heavy metal atoms per molecule of protein. They are ubiquitous in animals, plants, and also found in prokaryotes. In mammals, cysteine residues are conserved and coordinate heavy metal atoms such as zinc, cadmium, and copper via mercaptide linkages.
