Product Specific Information
A 1:1,000 dilution of MA5-45899 was sufficient for detection of Metallothionein in 1 µg of purified Pseudomonas aeruginosa Metallothionein (PmtA)-GST tagged protein by ECL immunoblot analysis using goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody. Detects 36 kDa band corresponding to Pseudomonas aeruginosa Metallothionein.
Target Information
Metallothioneins (MTs) are a family of low molecular weight, heavy metal-binding proteins characterized by a high cysteine content and lack of aromatic amino acids. MTs bind 7 to 12 heavy metal atoms per molecule of protein. They are ubiquitous in animals, plants, and prokaryotes. In mammals, cysteine residues are absolutely conserved and coordinate heavy metal atoms such as zinc, cadmium, and copper via mercaptide linkages.
