Target Information
Beta-catenin은 세포 간 접착 구조(adherens junction, AJ)의 구성 요소로 처음 확인된 단백질입니다. AJ는 세포 성장과 세포 간 접착을 조절하여 상피 세포층의 형성과 유지에 필수적입니다.
Beta-catenin은 E-cadherin의 세포질 도메인과 결합하여 alpha-catenin을 통해 actin 세포골격에 연결됩니다. 또한, adenomatous polyposis coli 단백질 및 미세소관과 결합하며, 여러 신호전달 경로(tyrosine kinase, phosphatase, Wnt/Wingless)와 상호작용합니다.
이 단백질은 모낭 세포, 기저 및 주변 기질 세포, 외부 및 내부 뿌리초 세포에서 발현되며, 다양한 종양(피로매트릭소마, 수모세포종, 대장암, 난소암 등)과 연관된 병리학적 역할을 가집니다.
핵 내에서 Beta-catenin은 Lef/Tcf 전사인자와 공동 활성화하여 cyclin D 및 c-myc 유전자의 발현을 유도하며, 세포 증식 및 종양 발생에 관여합니다.
