Target Information
The PBX1 gene encodes a nuclear protein belonging to the PBX homeobox family of transcriptional factors. Studies in mice suggest involvement in osteogenesis regulation and skeletal patterning. A chromosomal translocation t(1;19) involving PBX1 and TCF3/E2A is associated with pre-B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, producing a fusion protein that constitutively activates PBX-regulated genes. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants exist.
