Napsin 1은 폐 및 신장에 주로 발현되는 아스파르트산 프로테아제로, 정상 조직에서는 surfactant protein B를 처리하지만 암 발생 시 조절 이상을 보입니다. Napsin 1은 여러 암종의 식별 및 원발성 종양과 전이암의 감별에 유용하며, Thyroid Transcription Factor 분석과 병용 시 carcinoma 유형을 구분하는 특이적 바이오마커로 활용됩니다. 또한, 폐포 단백증 및 신장 세뇨관 내 단백질 분해와도 관련이 있습니다.
