Target Information
ARAP2 (also known as Centaurin-delta-1) is a protein containing ARF-GAP, RHO-GAP, ankyrin repeat, RAS-associating, and pleckstrin homology domains. It functions as a phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-trisphosphate-dependent GTPase-activating protein that binds to RhoA-GTP but lacks RHO-GAP activity due to the absence of the catalytic arginine residue. ARAP2 modulates actin cytoskeleton remodeling by regulating ARF and RHO family members. It is activated by PtdIns(3,4,5)P3 and, to a lesser extent, by PtdIns(3,4,5)P2. ARAP2 associates with focal adhesions and functions downstream of RhoA to regulate focal adhesion dynamics. It is typically expressed in brain, thymus, lymph node, thyroid, spinal cord, trachea, heart, skeletal muscle, spleen, kidney, liver, placenta, lung, and peripheral blood leukocytes.
