This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%) to prevent contamination.

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. Antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned and screened to select optimal candidates.

This antibody specifically detects Human BCL2L1/Bcl-XL.

Target Information

BCL-XL is a member of the BCL-2 protein family. These proteins form hetero- or homodimers and act as anti- or pro-apoptotic regulators involved in diverse cellular activities.
BCL-XL is located at the outer mitochondrial membrane and regulates the opening of the voltage-dependent anion channel (VDAC).
VDAC controls mitochondrial membrane potential and the release of cytochrome C, both key factors in apoptosis.
Two alternatively spliced transcript variants exist:

• The longer isoform acts as an apoptotic inhibitor.
• The shorter isoform acts as an apoptotic activator.
