Product Specific Information
Store vial at -20°C or below prior to opening. This vial contains a relatively low volume of reagent (25 µL).
To minimize loss of volume, dilute 1:10 by adding 225 µL of the buffer stated above directly to the vial. Recap, mix thoroughly, and briefly centrifuge to collect the volume at the bottom of the vial.
Use this intermediate dilution when calculating final dilutions as recommended. Store the vial at -20°C or below after dilution. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing.
This affinity purified antibody is directed against human ERK1 protein. Cross-reactivity is expected with human, mouse, and rat based on sequence identity of the peptide immunogen. This antibody does not react with the ERK2 isoform.
Target Information
MAPK3 (ERK1) is a serine/threonine kinase that activates p90, RSK, MSK, ELK1, and Stat3, and is involved in the MAPK pathway.
ERK1 is widely expressed and regulates meiosis, mitosis, and post-mitotic functions in differentiated cells.
Various stimuli, including growth factors, cytokines, virus infection, and transforming agents, activate the ERK1 and ERK2 pathways.
Functionally, ERK1 is part of a signaling cascade regulating proliferation, differentiation, and cell cycle progression in response to extracellular signals.
ERK1 is activated by upstream kinases, translocates to the nucleus, and phosphorylates nuclear targets.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different protein isoforms of ERK1 have been described.
