Target Information
Neuropilin 1 is a 923 amino acid membrane-bound coreceptor belonging to the neuropilin family. It contains two CUB domains, two F5/8 type C domains, and a MAM domain. Neuropilin 1 forms a heterodimer with Neuropilin 2 (NRP2) and interacts with plexin (PLXNB1) to form semaphorin receptors. Predominantly expressed in the nervous system, it plays roles in cardiovascular development, angiogenesis, axon guidance, neuronal circuit formation, cell survival, and neuronal migration. It acts as a receptor for semaphorins and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), regulating VEGF-induced angiogenesis. Neuropilin 1 may be involved in aggressive prostate carcinoma and breast cancer progression.
