Target Information
RNA-binding protein that regulates the translation of specific target mRNA species downstream of the mTORC1 complex, in response to growth signals and nutrient availability.
Interacts with both the 3′ poly-A tails and the 7-methylguanosine cap structure of mRNAs containing a 5′TOP motif.
This interaction represses translation by preventing EIF4G1 binding; phosphorylation by mTORC1 releases this repression.
LARP1 associates with ribosomes and stabilizes mRNAs with a 5′TOP motif, promoting protein synthesis and cell growth.
