Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the keratin family, which forms intermediate filaments providing structural integrity to epithelial cells. Cytokeratin 20 is a major cellular protein of mature enterocytes and goblet cells, specifically expressed in gastric and intestinal mucosa. Type I cytokeratin genes are clustered in the chromosome region 17q12–q21.
