Product Specific Information

The sym0F1 monoclonal antibody reacts with human and mouse c-Maf, a 42 kDa basic leucine zipper transcription factor involved in neural, ocular, and hematopoietic systems. In hematopoietic cells, c-Maf is crucial for IL-4 expression in Th2 and plays a role in Th17 and Tfh cell differentiation and function. It drives IL-21 expression and promotes IL-23R and CXCR5 expression.

Target Information

c-maf is the cellular counterpart of oncogenic v-maf belonging to the basic region leucine zipper transcription factor family. It interacts with LRPICD and exists in two mRNA forms (long and short). c-maf regulates IL-4, crystalline genes, insulin, p53, and L7 through MARE binding. It controls Th2 differentiation and IL-10 expression in macrophages. Chromosomal aberrations involving maf are observed in multiple myeloma, where it is expressed in myeloma cell lines and resting monocytes/macrophages.
