The 8C11 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD325 (N-Cadherin), a 130 kDa member of the Cadherin superfamily. It consists of five extracellular repeats, a transmembrane domain, and a cytoplasmic domain. CD325-deficient mice show embryonic lethality at day 10 with heart and neural tube defects, implicating CD325 in cardiac development and morphogenesis. It also plays a role in cell cycle regulation and is often dysregulated in cancer.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometry using HeLa cells. Recommended ≤0.5 µg/test (in 100 µL final volume). Optimal titration advised per assay.
Target Information
N-cadherin is a 140 kDa transmembrane protein mediating calcium-dependent intercellular adhesion. It regulates morphogenetic movements and cell surface adhesion via homotypic interactions. Its function depends on association with the actin-cytoskeleton through catenin proteins, regulated by β-catenin phosphorylation. N-cadherin is essential during gastrulation and for establishing left-right asymmetry.
