FNTA (Farnesyltransferase, CAAX box; alphaCAAX farnesyltransferase alpha subunit, FPTA, FTase-alpha, GGTase-I-alpha, Protein farnesyl transferase/geranyl geranyl transferase type I alpha subunit (PGGT1A), Ras proteins prenyl transferase alpha, Type I protein geranyl-geranyl transferase alpha subunit)는 인간 염색체 8p11 부위에 위치합니다.
Prenylation은 prenyltransferase에 의해 촉매되는 일반적인 세포 내 단백질 번역 후 변형으로, 가장 잘 알려진 효소는 CAAX farnesyl transferase (EC 2.5.1.21)입니다. 이는 α-β 이합체 효소로, CAAX box로 끝나는 단백질의 C-말단에서 네 번째 위치의 cysteine 잔기에 farnesyl phosphate로부터 farnesyl 그룹을 부착합니다.
FNTA는 geranyl-geranyl protein transferases와 α subunit을 공유하며, p21ras를 포함한 세포 내 신호 전달 경로를 조절하는 것으로 제안되었습니다. 또한 FNTA가 TGF-beta 및 activin-type I receptor와 상호작용한다는 보고가 있습니다.
