Product Specific Information

For immunohistochemistry on PFA-fixed tissues: incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

ATRX encodes a protein containing an ATPase/helicase domain, classifying it within the SWI/SNF family of chromatin remodeling proteins. Mutations in ATRX are linked to X-linked mental retardation (XLMR) often accompanied by alpha-thalassemia (ATRX) syndrome. These mutations can alter DNA methylation patterns, linking chromatin remodeling, DNA methylation, and gene expression during development. The ATRX protein undergoes cell cycle-dependent phosphorylation, influencing nuclear matrix and chromatin association, suggesting roles in gene regulation during interphase and chromosomal segregation in mitosis. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
