Product Specific Information
Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
Beta Actin antibody is specific for human and mouse beta Actin protein. Expected to cross-react with a wide range of species due to sequence homology (human, mouse, rat, swine).
A BLAST analysis suggests that this antibody may react with beta Actin from a wide range of organisms, including most vertebrates. Cross-reactivity with other sources has not been determined.
Target Information
Beta actin is one of six actin isoforms identified in humans. It is a non-muscle cytoskeletal protein expressed in all human cell types and plays a key role in cell motility, structure, and integrity.
Beta and gamma actins coexist in most cell types as cytoskeletal components. Polymerization of globular actin (G-actin) forms filamentous actin (F-actin) in a two-stranded helical structure.
Because beta actin is ubiquitously expressed in all eukaryotic cells, it is frequently used as a loading control in protein detection assays such as Western blotting.
Antibodies to beta-actin are valuable tools for studying intracellular distribution and cytoskeletal dynamics.
