BIN1 antibody is specific for human BIN1 protein. BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with BIN1 from human and mouse sources (100% homology with the immunizing sequence). Cross-reactivity with BIN1 from other species has not been determined.
Target Information
This gene encodes several isoforms of a nucleocytoplasmic adaptor protein, one of which was initially identified as a MYC-interacting protein with tumor suppressor features. Isoforms expressed in the central nervous system may be involved in synaptic vesicle endocytosis and interact with dynamin, synaptojanin, endophilin, and clathrin. Isoforms expressed in muscle and ubiquitously expressed variants localize to the cytoplasm and nucleus, activating a caspase-independent apoptotic process. Mouse studies indicate an important role in cardiac muscle development. Alternative splicing results in ten transcript variants encoding different isoforms, and aberrant splice variants have been described in tumor cell lines.
