Target Information
Nuclear factor of activated T-cells (NFAT) is a transcription factor required for T-cell expression of the interleukin-2 gene. It binds to the antigen receptor response element 2 in the IL-2 gene enhancer and can also bind RNA. NFAT is essential for hepatitis B viral polymerase encapsidation and protein priming. It forms a heterodimer of 45 kDa and 90 kDa proteins, with the smaller subunit encoded by this gene, which enhances gene expression through interaction with the 90 kDa protein.
