PA1-7240 detects the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
It has been successfully used in ELISA and immunofluorescence procedures.
This antibody does not react with parainfluenza 1–3, influenza A and B, or adenovirus by immunofluorescence.
The PA1-7240 immunogen is human RSV isolate, confirmed.
Target Information
Human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a member of the Paramyxoviridae family, subfamily Pneumovirinae.
It causes common respiratory tract infections such as measles and mumps.
Its genome is single-stranded, negative-sense RNA encoding three envelope glycoproteins:
- Small hydrophobic (SH) protein of unknown function
- Major glycoprotein (G), known as the attachment protein
- Fusion (F) protein
The F proteins cause membranes of nearby cells to merge, forming syncytia.
RSV typically produces mild symptoms in adults but is a leading cause of lower respiratory tract infections and hospital visits in infants and children.
