Product Specific Information

MA1-198 VE-Cadherin antibody detects human VE-cadherin by western blot, immunofluorescence, and flow cytometry.
This monoclonal antibody recognizes the extracellular domain of the VE-cadherin protein, which is highly expressed at intercellular junctions of vascular endothelial cells such as Huvec.


Target Information

VE-cadherin is a member of the cadherin superfamily located in a six-cadherin cluster on chromosome 16.
It plays a role in loss of heterozygosity events in breast and prostate cancer.
VE-cadherin protein is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein composed of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail.
Functioning as a classic cadherin, it mediates homophilic adhesion and contributes to endothelial cell cohesion and intercellular junction organization.
An alternative splice variant has been described, though the full-length sequence has not been determined.
