Product Specific Information
Description:
The 4S.B3 monoclonal antibody reacts with interferon-gamma (IFN gamma). Human IFN gamma is a 17 kDa factor produced by activated T and NK cells and functions as an antiviral and antiparasitic cytokine. It synergizes with cytokines such as TNF alpha to inhibit proliferation of normal and transformed cells. IFN gamma acts on a wide range of cell types expressing high-affinity receptors. Glycosylation does not affect its activity.
Applications Reported:
Reported for use in intracellular staining followed by flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of activated human PBMCs. Recommended use at 5 µL (0.5 µg) per test in a final volume of 100 µL. Suitable for 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.
Excitation/Emission: 488 nm / 519 nm

Target Information
IFN gamma (Interferon gamma, Type II interferon) is a macrophage activation factor and immune interferon produced primarily by T-lymphocytes and NK cells in response to antigens, mitogens, and cytokines. It is a dimeric glycoprotein (~45 kDa) composed of two 146 amino acid subunits. Biological activity is species-specific; human IFN gamma does not cross-react with mouse. Functions include antiviral and antiproliferative activity, induction of MHC I/II, macrophage activation, and enhanced antibody secretion by B cells. It signals via the JAK-STAT pathway through IFN gamma receptor I and II. Gene mutations are associated with aplastic anemia.
