Target Information
J chain is a small glycopeptide synthesized by plasma cells secreting polymeric immunoglobulins. It links to IgA and IgM via disulfide bonds but is also found in IgG- and IgD-containing cells. J chains are abundant in immunoglobulin-positive cells in germinal centers of tonsil and lymph node. B cells express J chain early in differentiation, persisting in cells that produce IgA or IgM.
