Target Information
Spermatogenic leucine zipper protein 1 (SPZ1) is a member of the basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) family of transcription factors, expressed specifically in the testis and epididymis.
SPZ1 acts downstream of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) to up-regulate cell proliferation and tumorigenesis.
It interacts with the proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) promoter, inducing cell proliferation alongside increased PCNA gene expression.
