Target Information
Rho GTPases, activated by specific guanine-nucleotide exchange factors (GEFs), play pivotal roles in cellular functions.
TEM4 encodes a protein containing 1510 amino acids, with a RhoGEF-specific Dbl homology (DH) domain but lacking a pleckstrin homology domain.
TEM4 acts as a Rho-specific GEF with novel structural and regulatory properties, predominantly expressed in the heart. It couples tyrosine kinase signals with activation of Rho/Rac GTPases, leading to cell differentiation and proliferation.
Elevated levels of TEM4, TEM5, TEM6, TEM7, and TEM7R have been observed in breast cancer tissues, suggesting potential therapeutic targeting.
