Target Information

TRPM6 is predominantly expressed in the kidney and colon, and encodes a protein containing both an ion channel domain and a protein kinase domain. It is crucial for magnesium homeostasis, playing an essential role in epithelial magnesium transport and active magnesium absorption in the gut and kidney.

Mutations in TRPM6 are associated with hypomagnesemia with secondary hypocalcemia. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been observed.

TRPC7 is thought to form a receptor-activated, non-selective calcium-permeant cation channel, likely operated by a phosphatidylinositol second messenger system activated by receptor tyrosine kinases or G-protein coupled receptors, and also activated by diacylglycerol (DAG) or intracellular calcium store depletion.
