Target Information

LC3B (Autophagy Marker Light Chain 3B, MAP1A/MAP1B LC3B) is encoded by the gene MAP1LC3B in humans. LC3B is associated with microtubule assembly and neurogenesis, and plays a vital role in autophagy, the process of cytoplasmic component degradation.
Three human LC3 isoforms undergo post-translational modifications during autophagy. Macroautophagy, the major inducible pathway for cytoplasmic turnover, involves double-membrane autophagosomes that fuse with lysosomes for degradation.
LC3B mediates interactions between microtubules and cytoskeletal components and may be involved in cancer, aging, metabolic, neurodegenerative, and cardiovascular/pulmonary diseases.
