Target Information
Amphiphysins, members of the BAR (Bin-Amphiphysin-Rvsp) protein superfamily, play a key role in clathrin-mediated endocytosis of synaptic vesicles.
All members share a conserved N-terminal BAR domain and a C-terminal SH3 domain.
Two isoforms of amphiphysin act as a heterodimer and interact with dynamin, synaptojanin, and clathrin, being implicated in synaptic vesicle recycling at nerve terminals.
Amphiphysins are also identified as dominant autoantigens in paraneoplastic Stiff-Man Syndrome.
