Product Specific Information

The SIDI8BEE monoclonal antibody reacts with human and rhesus macaque CD8 beta. The CD8b chain associates with CD8a to form the CD8ab heterodimer expressed on thymocytes and cytotoxic αβ T cells. The CD8 receptor binds MHC class I and plays a role in T cell development and activation.
SIDI8BEE detects CD8β in both CD8ab heterodimer and CD8bb homodimer. It is cross-reactive with human and rhesus macaque CD8b.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometry using normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended 5 µL (0.25 µg) per test (100 µL final volume, 10^5–10^8 cells/test).

Light Sensitivity: Protect from light; tandem dye is photo-oxidation sensitive.
Fixation: Samples can be stored in IC Fixation Buffer (Product #00-8222) or 1-step Fix/Lyse Solution (Product #00-5333) for up to 3 days at 4°C in the dark.

Target Information

CD8B antigen is a cell surface glycoprotein found on most cytotoxic T lymphocytes, mediating cell-cell interactions within the immune system. Acting as a coreceptor, CD8 and T-cell receptor recognize antigens presented by APCs with MHC class I molecules. The CD8 complex can be a homodimer (αα) or heterodimer (αβ). Both chains share homology with immunoglobulin variable light chains. This gene encodes CD8β isoforms, including alternatively spliced variants and a pseudogene on chromosome 2.
