Target Information
The PATZ1 protein contains an A-T hook DNA-binding motif that interacts with other DNA-binding structures and plays a crucial role in chromatin modeling and transcription regulation.
Its POZ domain mediates protein–protein interactions required for transcriptional repression, while zinc-finger domains constitute the DNA-binding region.
PATZ1 acts as a transcriptional repressor and can form fusion proteins with EWS in small round cell sarcoma due to chromosomal rearrangements involving 22q.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described.
