Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene contains an A-T hook DNA binding motif that interacts with other DNA-binding structures, playing an important role in chromatin modeling and transcription regulation. The POZ domain mediates protein-protein interactions required for transcriptional repression, while zinc-finger domains enable DNA binding. This protein likely functions as a transcriptional repressor. In small round cell sarcoma, the gene is fused with EWS by an inversion of chromosome 22q, forming a hybrid translocation t(1;22)(p36.1;q12). This rearrangement fuses the EWS transactivation domain with the zinc finger domain of this protein, representing an intra-chromosomal rearrangement of chromosome 22. Four alternatively spliced transcript variants are known.
