Target Information
Chemokines are key mediators of inflammation and play essential roles in recruiting effector immune cells to infection sites. They activate leukocytes by binding to G protein–coupled receptors. Chemokine receptors are divided into two major groups, CXCR and CCR, based on chemokine classes.
CCR1, one of the CCR receptors, is expressed on neutrophils, monocytes, lymphocytes, and eosinophils. It binds to macrophage-inflammatory protein (MIP-1), eotaxin, and other related chemokines.
Mice lacking CCR1 show defects in neutrophil trafficking and proliferation.
