Target Information
This gene encodes a transmembrane protein containing a Smad interacting motif (SIM). Expression is induced by androgens and transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β). The encoded protein suppresses androgen receptor and TGF-β signaling pathways through interactions with Smad proteins. Overexpression may be associated with various cancers. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed.
