Product Specific Information
This antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
ETFA (Electron Transfer Flavoprotein Alpha) participates in catalyzing the initial step of mitochondrial fatty acid β-oxidation. It transfers electrons between primary flavoprotein dehydrogenases and the membrane-bound electron transfer flavoprotein ubiquinone oxidoreductase.
Defects in this protein have been implicated in type II glutaric aciduria, where multiple acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiencies lead to elevated excretion of glutaric, lactic, ethylmalonic, butyric, isobutyric, 2-methyl-butyric, and isovaleric acids. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
