Target Information
Involved in pre-mRNA splicing as a component of the spliceosome. Functions as an intron-binding spliceosomal protein required to link pre-mRNA splicing and snoRNP biogenesis. Plays a key role in position-dependent assembly of intron-encoded box C/D small snoRNPs. May assist in folding of snoRNA sequences and binds to introns of pre-mRNAs in a sequence-independent manner. Exhibits ATP-dependent RNA helicase activity capable of unwinding double-stranded RNA molecules with a 3′ overhang (in vitro).
