Target Information
Cardiac Troponin T is the tropomyosin-binding subunit of the troponin complex, located on the thin filament of striated muscles. It regulates muscle contraction in response to intracellular calcium ion concentration changes. This protein is crucial for muscle function and myofibril formation. In the human heart, four isoforms are expressed in a developmentally regulated manner, and expression is affected by heart failure. Mutations in Cardiac Troponin T are associated with familial hypertrophic and dilated cardiomyopathy. Alternative splicing produces multiple tissue-specific isoforms.
