Synaptotagmin 1은 시냅스 소포막 당단백질로, 중추신경계 전반에 널리 발현되며, Ca²⁺ 의존적 신경전달물질 방출 조절에 관여하는 주요 센서로 알려져 있습니다. SNAP25와의 Ca²⁺ 매개 결합은 막 융합의 트리거 역할을 하며, 특정 결합 도메인은 소포의 내재화 속도 및 크기를 조절합니다. Synaptotagmin 1은 신경활성 영역에서 소포의 막 상호작용을 조절하고, 산성 인지질 및 단백질들과 Ca²⁺ 의존적 혹은 비의존적으로 결합합니다. 기능 이상은 식중독성 보툴리누스증 및 영아 보툴리누스증과 관련이 있습니다.
