RBBP9은 retinoblastoma 단백질과 상호작용하여 E2F-1의 해리를 유도함으로써 TGF-beta1의 성장 억제 효과에 대한 저항성을 부여하는 등 세포 변형 과정에 관여할 수 있습니다. 이 유전자는 세포 증식 및 분화를 조절하는 데 역할을 하는 retinoblastoma 결합 단백질을 암호화합니다. 동일한 단백질을 예측하는 두 가지 스플라이싱 변이체가 보고되었으며, 그중 하나는 nonsense-mediated decay 후보입니다.
