Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. Purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
GAD-65 and GAD-67, glutamate decarboxylases, catalyze the production of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid). In the central nervous system, GABA acts as the main inhibitory neurotransmitter by increasing Cl⁻ conductance that inhibits neuronal firing.
GABA activates ionotropic (GABAA) and metabotropic (GABAB) receptors, as well as GABAC receptors.
Members of the GABAA receptor family include GABAA Rα1–6, GABAA Rβ1–3, GABAA Rγ1–3, GABAA Rδ, GABAA Rε, GABAA Rρ1, and GABAA Rρ2.
The GABAB family includes GABAB R1α and GABAB R1β.
GABA transporters (GABA T-1, T-2, T-3; also designated GAT-1, -2, -3) function to terminate GABA action.
