Dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR)는 dihydrofolate를 tetrahydrofolate로 전환시키며, 퓨린, thymidylic acid 및 특정 아미노산의 합성에 필요합니다. 기능성 DHFR 유전자는 염색체 5번에 위치하며, 여러 개의 인트론이 없는 가공된 유사 유전자들이 다른 염색체에도 존재합니다. DHFR 결핍은 거대적아구성 빈혈과 연관되어 있습니다.
