Target Information
CD13 (ANPEP) is a 150–170 kDa type II transmembrane zinc-binding ectopeptidase expressed on various cell types. It acts as a metalloprotease that catalyzes the removal of neutral amino acids from small peptides, influencing activation or inactivation of bioactive peptides. CD13 is involved in extracellular matrix degradation, antigen processing, and signal transduction. It plays roles in inflammatory responses, intercellular contact regulation, cell motility, and vascularization. CD13 expression is observed in granulocytes, monocytes, and myeloid leukemia cells, and is associated with protection against apoptosis and poor carcinoma prognosis. Additionally, CD13 functions as an aminopeptidase enzyme and serves as an alpha receptor for coronavirus.
